Our Mission
Alive Now Foundation was created to raise awareness around mental illness and addiction while helping individuals and families connect with recovery-focused resources and support.
Too many people navigating mental health challenges and substance use fall through the cracks — especially those experiencing both at the same time. Through storytelling, advocacy, and community support, Alive Now works to reduce stigma and help people find pathways toward healing.
Our work is rooted in lived experience and guided by a simple belief:
No one should have to navigate recovery alone.

Amplifying Organizations Doing the Work
Alive Now supports and elevates organizations already providing treatment programs, peer support, and recovery services in communities across the country.
Sharing Lived Experience
Through Paul’s story and the Alive Now book, we aim to spark honest conversations about mental health, addiction, and recovery while helping reduce stigma.
The Story Behind Alive Now
Alive Now began with a deeply personal journey.
Founder Paul E. Daniels has lived with Bipolar Disorder for more than two decades while navigating the challenges of addiction and recovery. After a traumatic medical and legal experience during a manic episode in 2021, Paul began writing down his story — initially as a record of what happened.
What emerged instead became something much larger.
Writing became a process of healing, reflection, and ultimately a way to help others facing similar struggles.
That story became the foundation for both the Alive Now book and the creation of the Alive Now Foundation.
THE BOOK
Alive Now: Un Día a la Vez — One Day at a Time
Paul’s memoir shares an unfiltered look at living with Bipolar Disorder, addiction, and recovery in a system that often struggles to properly support people facing severe mental illness.
More than a survival story, the book offers hope, insight, and practical encouragement for anyone navigating mental health challenges — or loving someone who is.
The book also serves as the heart behind the Alive Now Foundation and helps support the mission of expanding awareness and recovery access.
